This horseback expedition gives you a unique viewpoint to take in the sights and sounds of Kenya. You’ll feel like a Maasai Warrior as you ride from Borana Wildlife Conservancy to the foot of Mt Kenya.
Once you arrive at the foot of the mountain, leave the saddle behind and embark on a different kind of adventure.
For the following days, you and the team will make the breathtaking and challenging ascent to the summit of the second highest peak in Africa, Mt Kenya. Standing at 17,058 feet, you’ll be treated to spectacular 360 degree views of soaring jagged peaks and glacier valleys.
Your horse will be a Somali-cross. They’re known for their unflappable and easy-going nature, making them perfect for this horseback safari.
Day 1: We will depart from the Borana before dawn. This will be a full-day ride on horseback to the base of Mt Kenya.
Day 2-4: Climb to the summit of Mt Kenya.
Day 5-6: We’ll make our way back to the base of the mountain.
Day 7: We’ll get back in the saddle to complete the ride back to the Sangare Conservancy for a celebration and 5th Element Expeditions Commemoration Ceremony.
The journey itself is designed for those with competent horse-riding ability, but by no means are you required to be an expert. The horses are Somali-cross. They’re known for their unflappable and easy-going nature, making them perfect for this horseback safari.
